Site rules explained
The intention behind the rules page was to keep it to the point, void of explanations and reasoning, just plain stating the rules themselves. However, I like to reason why I reason, hence I'm going to put up the same rules on this page, with an explanation attached.
- §0 Name
- This isn't really a rule, it's a proclamation of existence.
- §1 Purpose
- This rule is quite self-explanatory. However, I wrote this rule because in the past I've tried to restrict myself when it comes to making a web site, and it's just not working for me. In order to do something successfully when it comes to personal projects, I need to give myself free rule. Hence, this rule is to remind me that I can put up whatever I want.
- §2 Legal protection
- The legal protection is given in most civilized countries today, but I still think it's worth pointing it out explicitly Do not use or take anything from my site without asking permission first.
- §3 W3C Conformance
- I'm a computer nerd. I wouldn't be a proper one if I didn't adhere to these rules. Of course, that's not the only reason I'm adhering to these rules. They make a lot of sense, and they make my site available to a broader audience. Why would I not want to follow these rules again?
- §4 External links
- I don't remember exactly where I read about this, but I recall the reason for doing this is to let people read the whole article without being distracted until they've come to the end, where they might want to follow links. Putting links all over a document will most certainly distract people. Just try casually reading articles Wikipedia for a while.
